Did you know Black people were forbidden to swim in the same waters they were forcibly kidnapped and brought across?

Come frolic for our ancestors on Haulover Beach, the site where Black Miamians swam in rebellion prompting the creation of Miami’s “Black only” beach, Virginia Key.

    Historical Facts About The Beach.

In partnership with The Poetry Potluck, we’re curating a vibey beach turnup with curated activities, music and some giveaways!

We'll provide chasers, some drinks, and snacks. We need you to bring something to share (BYOB or snacks), a blanket, and good vibes!

White beach attire is suggested (…because you know WE love to color coordinate .)

We’re meeting up on Haulover Beach by Beach Tower 4. Use the address below to find the open parking lot/drop-off location closest to our beach spot:

    Driving to the Beach?!

When the skatepark is on your right, make the first right turn into Haulover Park and follow the road past the guard gate. Make the first right into the open parking lot at the stop sign. There should be a blue and yellow building on your left and a bike rental shop on your right. You MUST PaybyPhone using location 46265 - Haulover Park - Lot #3 and 4 or you will get a ticket. Paid parking is $10.27 for the day.

    Catching an Uber/Lyft?!

Use the address above to get closest to our spot near Beach Tower 4 on the beach. Once you enter past the guard gate, get dropped off right in front of the blue and yellow building.

    Already Parked or Dropped Off?!

Walk towards the blue and yellow building to get on the walking path. Follow the walking/bike path north. You’re heading in the right direction if the beach/sand is on your right-hand side. Look for the sign for Beach Tower 4. Make a right and follow the path on to the sand. You’ll see us in all white with tents, music and vibes!!!

If you get lost, look for/follow the big orange fish kite in the sky to Beach Tower 4!
